From Victoria to Viqar-un-Nisa: The Woman Who Pioneered Women’s Education in Bangladesh
Dhaka Tribune

Born in Austria and raised in England, Victoria’s journey to becoming “Begum Noon” reflects her lifelong dedication to women’s empowerment. After marrying Sir Feroz Khan Noon in 1945, she embraced Islam and adopted the name Viqar-un-Nisa. Her contribution to education in Dhaka began in 1952 with the founding of the renowned Viqarunnisa Noon School on Bailey Road.

Beyond education, she was also an active political figure who faced imprisonment during the Pakistan Movement and later served as a diplomat, playing a notable role in the acquisition of Gwadar Port. Today, her vision lives on through the thousands of students who continue their education at the institution she established.
