Bangladesh plans to establish direct train connections with Nepal and Bhutan, passing through India

Bangladesh and India have entered into a rail transit agreement aimed at integrating their railway networks into the Trans-Asian Network. This agreement allows India to utilize Bangladesh's railway routes to connect with its northeastern states, known as the 'Seven Sisters'. Similarly, Bangladesh Railway gains access through Indian territory to reach Nepal and Bhutan. Clarifying earlier uncertainties, Railways Secretary Humayun Kabir and Bangladesh Railway Director General Sardar Shahadat Ali confirmed on June 26 that Bangladesh can indeed use Indian territory for transit purposes.
