A simple wish from his mother inspired Mian Asghar Ali of Pattoki, Punjab, Pakistan, to transform his small home into a mini forest. At first, Ali told her there was not enough space for a garden, but he changed his mind after seeing her disappointment. Since 2016, he has planted and cared for more than 5,700 trees around his six-marla home, making use of rooftops, courtyards and every available space. He has spent nearly 14 lakh Pakistani rupees on the project, all to bring a smile to his mother’s face.
