Earlier today, Bangladesh Bank published a press release on its official Facebook page, announcing the launch of a new series of banknotes. In addition to key information regarding the upcoming release, the press release also included design specimens of the soon-to-be-introduced ৳1000, ৳50, and ৳20 notes.
According to the statement, Bangladesh Bank has begun the printing of a completely new series of banknotes under the theme ‘Historical and Ancient Architecture of Bangladesh.’ This theme will be reflected across all denominations — ৳1000, ৳500, ৳200, ৳100, ৳50, ৳20, ৳10, ৳5, and ৳2. As part of the first phase of this release, newly designed notes in the denominations of ৳1000, ৳50, and ৳20, bearing the signature of the current Governor, Dr. Ahsan H. Mansur, will be officially introduced into circulation starting from June 1, 2025, which corresponds to 18 Jyoishtho 1432 in the Bengali calendar.
Initially, these new notes will be available from the Motijheel office of Bangladesh Bank. Gradually, the distribution will expand to include other branches of the central bank across the country.
