81-year-old Rani Hamid to compete in Chess Olympiad in Hungary

81-year-old Rani Hamid, a seasoned Bangladeshi chess player, clinched a spot on the national women's team for the 45th Chess Olympiad in Budapest, Hungary, this September. Despite finishing sixth in the national championship, she earned the opportunity when runner-up Sharmin Sultana Shirin withdrew for personal reasons. Hamid, who has represented Bangladesh since its first participation in 1986, except for the last edition, expressed mixed emotions. She acknowledged not being disappointed if unable to participate but expressed joy at the chance to compete once more.
